these letters for concurrence some days ago and that

you concurred. The draft then if I remember aright,

contained a request that we would telegraph & warning to

Hong Kong. They do not now ask us to telegraph but

"H.M.G have received a note from Chinese Minister

asking for co-operation in preventing secret import

of arms and ammunition for the use of rebels. I should

be glad if you would instruct police to exercise

especial vigilance to prevent evasions of proclamation

which forbids export from Hong Kong"

And send copy to F.0., sending copy of F.0. letter and

enclosures to HongKong.

(The last notification received as to the proclam-

ation showed that it was renewed for six months from 29/11/06. This extension ended in May but they will certainly have extended it further though we have not
